Basic Typing skills are necessary for jobs worked from home.  One finger typing is a sheer waste of time and money.   If you want to master the touch typing skill then you have to implement three steps. They are:

• Positioning
• Practicing
• Finger pecking

Before you start your journey on practicing these three tips to sharpen your typing skills you have to check your current speed level.  This can be done by taking any of the online tests that are available under the "free typing test" heading. When you browse through the search engines you will have the axis of typing tests which is a free package deal of both games and tutorials.

Now coming to the 3 steps of Typing Skills:

Positioning: It’s next to impossible to develop good typing skills without having the basic knowledge of the keyboard functions.  Familiarize your fingers with keys as each finger is allotted to work on particular alphabet keys.   This technique has to be learnt in a very systematic and organized manner.  A tutorial would do a wonderful job on this.  The basic home row keys are a,s,d,f,g for your left hand fingers and ;,l,k,j,h for the right hand fingers.

Your four fingers on the left hand go as follows:

• Your pinky finger goes on the alphabet ‘a’ key
• The ring finger goes on the alphabet ‘s’ key,
• The middle finger goes on the ‘d’ key,  and
• The pointer finger goes on the ‘f’ and ‘g alternatively.

Your four fingers on the right hand go as follows:

• Your pinky finger goes on the ‘;’ (semicolon) key
• The ring finger goes on the alphabet ‘l’ key,
• The middle finger goes  on the ‘k’ key,  and
• The pointer finger goes on the ‘j’ and ‘h’ alternatively.

Practicing: The old saying that “Practice makes man perfect” is true in the case of typing as well. The more you practice the better speed and efficiency you acquire.  Choose to play any of the online entertaining typing game for practicing on your typing speed.  As you keep moving your fingers on the keyboard you will develop agility and speed along with skill.

Finger pecking: Your hands and fingers will learn the language that you teach and perform the skill that has trained them to do. Remember you are the master so go ahead and trust them to work their way freely on the keyboard.  The less you monitor your hands with your eyes better the results.  The more you practice on the key boards without looking at them the faster your speed and efficiency.

Typing is a  trained  skill that requires a lot of practice and discipline.  Once you understand the technique and then head towards mastering the skill then there is no stopping you from typing efficiently and effectively. Running your fingers in a systematic manner over the keyboard would leave you at a great advantage both money and time wise.
